For music lovers, it's important to think ahead and plan carefully. This means imagining the kind of music you want to create and picking the right pieces to put it all together just right.

Music runs in my genes

Everyone in his family is a music aficionado. His family to this day owns a collection of the latest music cassettes of the time. Music and entertainment were always around Phiroj Singh from his earliest memories. Phiroj, from his childhood, aspired to become a musician. He remembers playing beats on his geometric boxes.

From a classroom musician to a nationwide hit, Phiroj Singh had to go through quite a journey. He immediately joined music classes at Do-Re-Mi music school after SLC. There he would learn to play the guitars. However, after his singing ability caught the attention of 1974 AD frontman -- Phiroj Shyangden, Phiroj Singh switched his musical course from guitars to vocals.

In the meantime, Phiroj Singh also affiliated himself with SAV Records. While DO-Re_Mi was helping him become an ace singer, SAV Records introduced the business side of music. His interest and devotion in both allowed Phiroj Singh to understand Nepali music audiences and imply his learnings to succeed both as a music distributor and performer.

Phiroj released his first album, Bahana in 2062 BS, which gained mass attention subsequently gained audience approval. The title track, Bahana, to this day is a hit among the Nepali audience. However, it was only after a 10-year gap, Phiroj released his second album, Kharani.

Phiroj misses the joy of music due to his professional obligations. Still, he aspires to make a comeback. He says, “Circumstances kept me away from music, as a performer. I couldn’t find sufficient time to pursue music. However, I have created a venue for many other talents through my business. Now, live music at Sasa is conducted from two venues simultaneously. We look to provide a platform for many musicians in the coming days, as we have in the past.” He further committed, “I will make a comeback as a singer when the time and circumstances are right for me!”
